It’s always an exciting day when a peer firm announces the bonuses it intends to pay its hard-working associates. A bit of an internal frenzy will often ensue at your firm once this news comes out as your colleagues will wonder if they can count on the same amount, or maybe more! But whatever you do during these periods of hope and excitement, never discuss bonus amounts with your friends in investment banking as that will likely cause you to start to question a lot of your life choices.
